If getting out the door, moving from playtime to dinner, or facing a big change like a new sibling or starting childcare feels hard, you're not alone.
Transitions are some of the toughest moments in a young child's day. Their brains are still learning to shift attention and manage big feelings, and that takes time to develop. A transition asks a child to stop something they're enjoying and move to something unfamiliar or on someone else's timeline instead of their own.
The good news: small, consistent tools can make a real difference; things like visual timers, predictable routines, and simple, reassuring words.
Enrolled families may join us for Tools for Transitions, a Parent Connect where we'll dig into why transitions are hard, and leave with take-home tools like transition objects, first/then charts, and sand timers.

With fall and cooler weather arriving, and the new school year underway I wanted to share a clothing resource for families with school-age children.
First Presbyterian Neighborhood Clothing Closet 521 E. Lakeside Ave., Coeur d’Alene | 208-667-8446
The Clothing Closet provides free, clean/new clothing, hygiene items, and laundry supplies to K–8th grade students. Families receive about a week’s worth of clothing per child, with a personal shopper to help each child choose items they like. Appointments are available Tuesdays and Thursdays after school and Sundays after church services.
Note: Shoes and coats are not provided through the Clothing Closet. Windemere provides shoes through Boots and Socks and ICARE provides coats through Coats for Kids.
Note from Jennifer:
Though this resource is in Kootenai County the Clothing Closet is open to families throughout the North Idaho area, I love that they let children choose their own clothing with the help of a “personal shopper." Let me know if you would like help scheduling an appointment to take your child(ren) shopping for some new clothing.
Catie presented the school readiness goals, noting that the first assessment of the year will take place in late September. The goals include approaches to learning; social emotional; language and communication; cognition; and perceptual, motor, and physical development.
Mikayla shared outreach results from Bubblepalooza, with approximately 24 families attending in Pinehurst and 57 families attending in Sandpoint. The Kootenai event was cancelled due to wildfire smoke.
